NEWBERRY SPRINGS, San Bernardino County — November 4, 2026. The Newberry Community Services District board election is a close local contest with three seats available. In the county’s 2 a.m. tally, just 11 votes separate third-placed Michael Devan Matson Sr. from fourth-placed Jack Unger.
Six candidates for three board seats
The official county results list Robert Shaw with 147 votes, Robert M. Springer 141, Michael Devan Matson Sr. 129, Jack Unger 118, Devorah Allen-Solorio 110 and Ted Stimpfel 90. The district’s tally also lists ten unresolved write-in votes. Three of four precincts (75%) were marked as reporting.
Why this is particularly local
Unlike statewide propositions, this election directly determines representation on Newberry Springs’ community services district board, which manages local services and policies within its legal jurisdiction. The results are districtwide, not a count taken solely from a single neighborhood.
The quoted figures are from San Bernardino County’s 2 a.m. November 4, 2026, unofficial Summary Report #4. More eligible mail, provisional and signature-cure ballots can be counted later; no result in this story is certified. Updated totals: San Bernardino County Registrar.
